Let us introduce to you Green Goddess Tacos with Grilled Ontario Halloumi. Inspired by the May 2021 Milk Calendar recipe, Greek-Style Chicken Gyro Nachos which features Ontario feta cheese, greek yogurt and butter, beloved contributor Jasmine Baker developed this beautiful and mouth-watering taco recipe to take your taste buds on a delightful journey. Halloumi is a fabulous semi-firm cheese that originated in Greece and is incredible for pan-searing or grilling. The Peaches and Green Goddess dressing that's made with local Greek yogurt adds a fresh, bright and herbaceous balance to the rich saltiness of the Halloumi. The Green Goddess dressing is beautifully versatile and is great for salads, dips and other grilled meats.
Step 1
Green Goddess Dressing
Combine all ingredients in blender and blend on medium speed until smooth. Will yield about 2.5 cups of dressing, so you will have extra. Make ahead and store in mason jar or airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Step 2
Grilled Halloumi Tacos
Slice Halloumi into 1 cm slices, pat dry with paper towel and brush one side with canola oil.
Step 3
Heat a non-stick fry pan over medium heat and place oiled side of Halloumi down in the pan. Brush the top side with canola oil and then cook for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown.
Step 4
Divide peach slices and layer on top of the Bibb lettuce, lay grilled Halloumi on top of peaches, drizzle with Green Goddess Dressing. Serve and enjoy!
