Savour Ontario

Ontario local food for the passionate, the bold and the epicurious.

A fondue fork pulls out a piece of bread that has been dipped into a cheese fondue that is served in a hollowed out squash.

Inspired by the people who grow, raise, produce and elevate local food.

Savour Ontario is a local food and lifestyle content hub where you’ll find the best of Ontario food, culture, ideas and experiences. From chef, maker and restaurant profiles and recipes to long reads on food culture and great entertaining and home décor tips, you’ll learn not only why local food matters, but how to embrace the local food and lifestyle movement.

A mother is holding her young daughter as they each have a glass of milk.

Milk is the magic ingredient at the heart of local food.

Dairy Farmers of Ontario created Savour Ontario to help enrich Ontarians’ lives through good, local food and community. Milk is an original local food, and we believe that a life well-lived starts from the very first glass.

Tawfik Shehata

Chef

Tawfik has cooked in many different restaurants in Canada and the Caribbean and spent time operating a farm. He has a real, hands-on understanding of the amount of work that goes into getting food to the table and an appreciation for those who work incredibly hard for the food we eat.

In many cases the provenance of a product is almost as important as the product itself, and Chef Tawfik feels sourcing product is as important a process as preparing it. He says, “Southern Ontario is a Land of Plenty!” and feels lucky to have such incredible products available locally.

Voted one of the “Top Ten New Chefs in Canada” by enRoute magazine, Chef Tawfik has been featured on Food Network Canada, CBC, SUN TV, Canadian Living, City Bites, Tonic Magazine, Healthy Directions and is the Media Spokesperson for Foodland Ontario.
